Pallet Wraps in Southampton
10 May 2016
The Euro pallet has become the standard way of transporting many different types of goods, making them easy to handle and offering them protection in transit. However, that protection doesn’t usually come from the pallet itself but from a wrap that holds the shipment in place and protects it from dirt and moisture.
It’s a Wrap
Pallet wrap comes in the form of a plastic film rather like a heavy-duty clingfilm. Adding pallet wrap to your cargoes on Euro pallets provides stability to stop the goods on the pallet from moving around as they’re transported. It also protects against dust and dirt, ensuring that goods arrive in pristine condition.
Wraps can be used with new plastic pallets as well as the more traditional wooden type. They also come in a variety of colours and weights, making them suitable for a variety of different tasks. Palletised loads come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, whether your pallet holds a single item or a number of small boxes, and applying a wrap helps keep it in place and protects it from damage.
Although it’s tough when it comes to protecting loads, wrap is easy to remove once you’ve sliced through it with a sharp knife or a pair of scissors. From the packing point of view, it’s easy to apply too. It’s simply wrapped around the load, starting at the bottom and making sure that each layer overlaps the next to give it a secure hold. The advantage of wrapping in this way is that it usually gives a tight enough hold so that there’s no need to apply heat to shrink it into place.
