Great uses of plastic boxes
18 Nov 2013
Plastic boxes are one of the most versatile modern-day inventions. Not only are they environmentally friendly, but they are also incredibly hard-wearing and will last for as long for as you need them. There are so many great uses for plastic pallets boxes that it would be impossible to mention them all, but here are a few ideas to get you thinking.
Storing and Transporting Food
Plastic pallets are perfect for moving and storing food. They are strong enough to withstand the weight of tins and also to ensure more fragile items, such as fruit and vegetables, are not smothered or crushed. Using stackable pallets is a brilliant way to transport food from the supermarket to your home and they can then easily be carried from car to house with no fuss and, perhaps more importantly, no breakages. In addition, using boxes is a far more environmentally friendly option as there is no need to use handfuls of carrier bags.
Why not impress your friends with some really unique pieces of furniture? Storage boxes can be used individually or grouped together to make any number of household objects, from a funky bedside cabinet, telephone console or coffee table to a one-off plant holder or footstool. Use spray paint to customise the colour and design, or leave the boxes natural for a more urban look.
Clothes and Toy Storage
Most people own far more clothes than will fit into one wardrobe alone. For this reason it makes sense to organise your clothes according to the season and store away those items not being used. The same goes for baby clothes and toys, which many people like to keep in order to pass on to friends and family. Plastic pallets with sides are an ideal way to store your out-of-season clothes, keeping them protected from damp or those pesky moths. The boxes can then be put away under beds, in the loft or even in a shed. For those for whom space is an issue, pallets can be carefully stacked.
If you use a bike to get about, a plastic box can be utilised to ensuring your shopping is properly stored and balanced. It makes your journey easier and safer.
Raised Garden Beds
Raised flowerbeds have become very popular in recent years. Rather than employing the services of an expensive landscape gardener, why not make your own using some large plastic pallets? Not only will these make a garden worth talking about, but they will also be portable, allowing you to transport the beds should you wish to change your garden around or if you are moving house.
Pencil Boxes and Desk Organiser
Are you sick of always having to hunt high and low for a pen or pencil when you need one? Banish those wasted minutes fishing around down the back of the sofa by turning a plastic box into storage for all your stationery. Using storage boxes of varying sizes and shapes to organise your desk space will ensure you can find what you need, when you need it. They also keep the space neat and tidy.
