Understanding The Plastic Pallet Recycling Process

Used Plastic Pallets Birmingham

Many people still believe that plastic pallets cause harm to the environment due to the non-biodegradable material that they are made from. However, we believe that the misconceptions can be easily cleared by understanding the plastic pallet recycling process.

With modern techniques and tools, plastic pallets’ harm to the environment can be massively mitigated. Discover how the plastic pallet recycling process works from beginning to end with our handy guide below or browse through our range of new or used products on our website!

The Plastic Pallet Recycling Process: Step 1

The first step in the plastic pallet recycling process is to check the used plastic pallets’ condition. Sometimes when we collect pallets, they aren’t in poor condition, and their structural integrity and cleanliness are mostly intact. If a used plastic pallet isn’t beyond salvaging, we typically refurbish it and clean it rather than recycle its material entirely.

We sell our refurbished used plastic pallets on our website, and they can make an excellent, cost effective solution to your shipping and storage needs. All collected and refurbished used plastic pallets are only resold if they meet our high quality standards so that you can have peace of mind.

The Plastic Pallet Recycling Process: Step 2

The true process can begin once we have decided the plastic pallet needs to be recycled. If a plastic pallet is beyond simple refurbishment, we can grind it down, turning it into tiny granules. These small granules resemble sand or little marbles, and they are the perfect way for us to reuse as much material as possible!

With our modern plastic pallet recycling process, there can be no waste, leading to an amazing reduction in plastic pollution! We always strive to break down as much unsalvagable plastic as possible to ensure that we keep our environment eco-friendly.

The Plastic Pallet Recycling Process: Step 3

After the plastic pallets have been ground down into raw materials, they are superheated and injected into a pallet mould. Then, we leave the melted plastic to cool in the desired shape. Once the mould is removed, we have a brand new, structurally sound plastic pallet!

The most incredible part about this process is that it can be done time and time again, letting us rely less on virgin plastics. With the help of new technology, we’ve been able to reduce plastic waste across the UK massively, and we’ve made it our never ending mission to keep the reduction going!

All our staff are made aware of the aims and objectives of our Quality and Environmental Management System, which has been implemented to meet ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.

Over 80% of our plastic pallets are manufactured from reclaimed material. The only plastic pallets that we manufacture using brand new materials are for superior hygiene requirements such as food and pharmaceutical use. The only other exception is uniquely coloured pallets, as the recycled materials are typically limited to dark grey or black.

The Plastic Pallet Recycling Process: Step 4

Now that we have a brand new recycled pallet, the final step is to sell it to a new owner to help them transport or store their goods. Plastic pallets can have years of use with minimal wear and tear thanks to their durable and easy to clean one piece construction. They don’t require any nails or screws, making them a long lasting, safe alternative to other pallet types!
